HOW TO SERVED A TRUE GOD

Joshua 24:1-17

Introduction

The book of Joshua begin with the death of Moses and it end with the death of Joshua and eleazar , with Joseph burial

Some of the event of the book Joshua , the conquest of the land, the partake of the land, rahab story, the crossing of Jordan , second generation circumcised , Joshua meet Jesus 

1. Who is Joshua ? 

           The first time we hear of him, is in the book of exodus 17:9-10 as a warrior and leader

            Then in the crises of the golden calf Exodus 33:11 as Moses 's follower

            In the spies event Numbers 13:8,16 He show his leadership qualities 

            When Moses pray for him to be next leader Numbers 27:17 as Shepard of the people

• It does not appear that Joshua was ever married or that he had any children
• He was high in the estimation of God 
• Like Moses , never provide for himself or his relatives , though he has power to do so
• His country men gave him an inheritance among them , Joshua 19:50
• The conqueror of the nations did not take himself a noble city , and it was not even a great place , they gave him TIMNATH SERAH IN BARREN MOUNTAINS OF EPHRAIM

2.  The great preaching of the old man

• The place where the preaching was deliver, SHECHEM, a place where Abraham settled on his first coming to Canaan land, also Jacob did the first revival there Gen 12:6-7, Gen 35:4
• The other great iconic places of the bible Gilgal, SHILOH, Bethel
• Joshua was old , Joshua 13:1, Joshua 23:1-2 
• He gave them the backround of where they come from
• It was before the Lord
• Balak and balaam story
• Abraham who he was for them 
• Jericho victory
• Hornet send, This was the main points of his preaching 

3. How to served the Lord 

• Fear the Lord by the reverence him as the sole object of your religious worship
• Served him by performing his will, by obeying his command
• Sincerity by having your whole heart engaged in his worship
• And in truth according to the direction he has given you in infaible word
• Put away the gods of heathen nations, therefore from Joshua preaching we learn of the THREE TYPES OF GODS of which they have experienced during their life
• Those which their fathers worshipped on the other side of The river, example gods of the Chaldean which is fired, light, sun 
• Those of the Egyptians example ape, serpent
• Those of the Canaanite , Moabite example Baal Peor, Venus 
• Verse 23 of Joshua 23 is saying they were already worshipping other gods , after all that the Lord have done for them!!!!!

In conclusion Amos 5:26 say it all therefore there is no excused for us to served the Lord god
